Terms of Service

Last updated: June 12, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of bookshelf.dev (the "Site") and the digital books and content offered through it (the "Content"). The Site is operated by Mikhail Rubanov ("we", "us", "our"). By accessing the Site or purchasing Content, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Content

bookshelf.dev offers programming books as digital content. Some books, or parts of books, are free to read; others require a one-time purchase of an individual book or an active subscription that grants access to paid books on the Site.

2. Purchases, payment, and the Merchant of Record

Payments are processed by Polar (Polar.sh), which acts as the Merchant of Record for all purchases. This means Polar, not us, is the seller of record for your transaction and is responsible for handling payment, billing, and applicable taxes (such as VAT or sales tax). Your purchase is also subject to Polar's Terms of Service.

3. Access and your account

Access to paid Content is tied to the email address you provide at checkout. To read paid Content you enter that email on the Site; we verify an active purchase or subscription against Polar and grant access. You are responsible for the accuracy of the email you provide and for any access granted through it. Do not share access or distribute paid Content.

4. Licence and acceptable use

Upon purchase, you are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and read the Content for your own use. You may not copy, redistribute, resell, publicly post, or create derivative works from the paid Content without our written permission. All intellectual property rights in the Content remain with us or the respective authors.

5. Refunds

Refunds are handled in accordance with our Refund Policy and processed through Polar.

6. Disclaimers

The Content is provided for educational purposes "as is", without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that the Content is error-free or that the Site will be uninterrupted or available at all times. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site or Content.

7. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

8. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Argentina, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
